no poetry here, mister...

Joe McCain: The guy who called me a Commie:
Operator: "911, state your emergency."

Caller: "It's not an emergency but, do you know why on one side at the damn drawbridge of 95 traffic is stopped for 15 minutes and yet traffic's coming the other way?"

Operator: "Sir, are you calling 911 to complain about traffic?"

Caller: "F--k you."
Up until now I gave John McCain a pass on his anger as something borne from his brutal handling in the Hanoi Hilton. Turns out he's always been a prick like his brother.

Did he really call you a commie?

I thought you were just a socialist?

By the way, despite my degrees in political science, law, and taxation, apparently I am not qualified to know what socialism is (guess you gotta be one to know), so can you explain it?

Well, NoVa is more liberal than Philadelphia, basically the beltway and just outside. But I would hesitate to call it commie. Socialism in my opinion is a matter of degree, and is a collection of measures to restrain capitalism and redistribute wealth. There are a lot of ways to do this, and in varying degrees, so the lefties that say we don't understand socialism also don't understand it (and shouldn't display their stupidity by holding up a dictionary). We already live in a socialist system of sorts, and have even before FDR. The question is why we have these meausures and how far to take them. Obama clearly wants to change our system to make it less capitalistic and more socialist.

I doubt he would call me a commie, but he might call me an eastern ivory tower elitist.
