Lieberman has said he may run as an independent in the November's general election. Democratic insiders say the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee will back the winner of tonight's primary, potentially handing Lamont a hefty campaign war chest.

Congratulations on your Lamont victory. I am surprised that Lieb will try the indie route - I don't think he has a snowball's chance in hell. Tough end to a decent political career.
Tremendous victory for the party purists. Inadvertently presents Lamont to the country as a Deaniac left-winger, even if he isn't.
Also helps the GOP by ceding some middle ground in the Senate. Hopefully, the pachyderms will be smart enough to seize it. Something tells me not, however.
