Selective memory on Lloyd. Like any local pol, he had his share of skeletons. Agree with you on cerebral -- I always thought Dan did not get the props for his intellect, which was always overshadowed by his malaprops.
As for the Kennedy episode, Dan made a classic mistake that any MassPol knows not to make, and that is to invoke the name of a DK, especially when running against a live one. I saw this again and again, and the guys in the smoke-filled back room will tell you that the Kennedy or Dem always has a riposte if a DK comes up. Big hit with the voters for some reason. Could never figure out why (but that might be my 10 years of college getting in the way).
