The clear endorsement of Senator Barack Obama by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Saturday morning came as a strong blow to the McCain campaign.
McCain has claimed a superiority to Obama in matters of foreign policy as a major selling point to his candidacy for president, but that position is more difficult in the wake of al-Maliki's statement.
After hearing of the announcement, a sometime adviser to the McCain campaign said in an email, "We're f**ked," according to Mark Ambinder of The Atlantic.

Well, you recall that we agreed (for different reasons) that Iraq was a foolhardy venture.
Personally, I plan to beat my congressperson about the ears to demand a pullout immediately. I may encourage Rush to get his Operation Chaos people (all 12 of them) to do the same.
I don't care if Iraq burns; it will anyway, so lets get ourselves and our money out. The europeans won't move in because that would require troops and no European has known how to fight since 1944.
I will be appropriately invested, of course, though it may be in Cayman Island accounts.
And with this war over, assuming that the Obamanots haven't banned ammo sales, I can stock up on the cheap because this war is driving up prices.
