Naahm de Plume and I were supposed to take in the UMass/Villanova game this weekend, but betwixt family duties and a boss-on-wheels, welllll... But I am cheered to see his foray back into the commentariate.
UMass holds off a pesky Wildcat squad to go up 2-1. Really bad start to the game when, from first play from scrimmage, VU takes it 50 yards on the reverse. Next play, a draw, and the runner takes it 20 yards untouched to the house.
I am majorly pissed at this point. Hissing, spitting and pounding the stationary bike I was riding. UMass should be crushing them.
Supposedly, I missed most of a pretty good football game. UMass did not dominate like it was supposed to, and VU even blocked a UMass field goal attempt. UMass may have been bigger, more experienced and more talented, but Andy Talley made us look slow and stupid at the start. Fact that VU, with undersized players, got 21 points doesn't sit well either. I know that this was VU's house, and they had attitude after letting Lehigh off the mat last week, but we still shoulda crushed them.
I get bragging rights for the week (Wife is a VU Wildcat)
Here's another update - UNH utterly destroyed Stony Brook. I know it is a SUNY, and they suck, but still, 62 to 7 is a thrashing, esp. when you consider that, by the 4th, UNH probably had band members playing on defense and special teams. Guess we will have to worry about the Emmitts again this year.
