I'm not a lib - I'm a moderate. For all intents and purposes, and according to my voter registration card, I'm an independent voter. I'm fiscally conservative, pro military, pro choice, pro school vouchers, pro social programs as long as they simultaneously encourage participant accountability and sustain themselves not only through private tax dollars, pro-gun ownership and pro-union.
I was being facetious about the gun license, although I think I should have the ability to get one if I want it. I just choose not to.
Depending on your jurisdiction, and the hassle factor, I recommend to people that they get a permit, even if you have no intention of carrying (or owning, as the case may be). It is like insurance---Better to have it and not need it . . .
Also, a jurisdiction (read, Phila.) may eventually deny future permits, but may tread lightly on current holders. In effect, you would be "grandfathered" and permitted to retain a valuable right.
