billmon's not alone...

And he speaketh to me:
Mostly what that makes me, I suppose, is politically irrelevant and -- in today's environment -- something of a borderline nihilist. Also a fairly complete sell out, since I get up each day and go to work for an enormous corporation that stands for just about everything I claim to oppose.

Yes well... so many of us lead dual lives. The one we want and the one that pays the bills. We strive for individuality and only get to achieve mediocrity through complacency. Even more so when one of those lives we lead happens to be in politics where change is bad. Which is why the label of liberal doesn't particularly bother me... I figure, a true liberal demands freedom and is willing to sacrifice instability and change to achieve it. Doesn't sound like such a bad word to me.

in contrast, say, to an artist, who would demand freedom and is willing to sacrifice stability, though not change, to achieve it...

Correct. But... I'm no artist Mr. G.

Busy with work and other vile forms of wasting time.
